The following concepts are mastered in Third Grade:
• I can sing two part rounds and partner songs.
• I can identify and perform AB, ABA, verse-refrain songs and question/answer patterns.
• I can perform the basic note values of quarter notes, quarter rests, pairs of eighth notes, and sets of four sixteenth notes.

Students inThird Grade will be exposed to the following musical vocabulary during their music classes this year:
adagio, moderato, allegro, ostinato, dynamics, accelerando/ritardando, phrase, harmony, texture
Third Grade Concepts and Skills taught throughout the year. These skills are introduced and not expected to be mastered in the third grade year unless noted:
• Perform rhythmic ostinato patterns.
• Perform melodic patterns.
• Sing rounds and partner songs. (mastered)
• Listen to and perform a variety of AB, ABA, verse-refrain songs and question/answer patterns. (mastered)
• Develop singing voice through varied song repertoire and pitch matching experiences.

• Recognize rhythm patterns using basic note values: the basic note values of quarter notes, quarter rests, pairs of eighth notes, and sets of four sixteenth notes. (mastered)
• Use creative movement as a form of expression.
• Recognize and perform basic melodic notation on the staff.
• Identify the characteristics of the four instrument families (brass, percussion, strings, woodwinds)
