Flavio Valerio Virzì graduated in Law cum laude at the University of Catania, discussing a thesis with title “The Legal Condition of Immigrants”. He holds a PhD in Public, Comparative and International Law at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. His research activities cover immigration law, and particularly the system of reception of asylum seekers. He has been PhD Visiting Scholar 2017 at the City University of London, submitting a project with title “Towards a Common European Reception System?”. He awarded the Research Grant for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics 2016-2017, promoted by Sapienza University of Rome-Italy, submitting a project with title “The Organization of the Asylum Seekers’ Reception in Italy”. Furthermore, he collaborated in the research “Migration Crisis in Italy and European Union”, promoted by Institute for Research on Public Administration (IRPA), under the direction of the Prof. Mario Savino, and published by Editoriale Scientifica in 2017.
