Bio

I gained my master’s degree from University of Aberdeen in the field of Ecology & Conservation in 2018. I pride myself with the fact that my master's degree study was through the very prestigious Chevening Scholarship program. In addition to that,  I was also awarded another scholarship by the Erasmus Mundus program to study another master, but chose to go with the former for the UK's reputation and excellency in the field of science and education.

After returning from my studies, I started working at Kurdistan technical Institute, first as an assistant lecturer and later as head of department of pharmacy.

Prior to that, I was working in journalism, news-editing, and political and economic analysis for almost three years, an experience which also saw me function in an administrative and managerial capacity. I chose my field of study for my MSc believing that formal education in the field coupled with my experience in journalism would help me make people more aware of the dire changes in our environment. Hence, my plans for a PhD are also along the same train of thought.

My research interests include evolutionary biology, ecology, dispersal, molecular ecology, range-shifts and other areas related to species' adaptation mechanisms to environmental changes.
