Dr. Carpes is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Pampa, Brazil. He is the President of the International Society of Biomechanics and served as President of the Brazilian Society of Biomechanics in addition to other directory board roles. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Biomechanics and Section Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports. His research focuses on developing a basic understanding of the production and regulation of movements with studies in humans and other pre-clinical models applying this information to training and rehabilitation. Carpes is also dedicated to helping different groups across the world to establish laboratory and research groups in the field of biomechanics and the organization of new biomechanics societies in economically developing countries.
