Miss Schott's 4th Grade Class

Weekly Update: 9/18 - 9/22

This week is Safety Week. We will have an emergency safety drill every day Tuesday-Friday before recess.

I discussed Safety Week in class with our students and I made sure they know it is incredibly important that they are silent during emergency drills. Mr. Thomas takes safety drills very seriously.

Our End of Module One assessment is this Tuesday, 9/19. We will be reviewing in class on Monday, and we will take the whole period to complete the assessment on Tuesday.

This week I will start adding "challenge" spelling words to our weekly spelling list - they are worth 10 table points per word if they are correct.

Alta Vista Student Council is organizing a Hurricane Relief Effort for those affected by Hurricanes Harvey & Irma. I will send out a flyer on Monday with information on how to donate. Additionally, two students in our class have been working on Hurricane Harvey relief during Genius Hour (kudos to our thoughtful kids)!

Our class is in need of personal Expo Markers! The ones I provided at the beginning of the year are already drying out. If your child could bring their own personal Expo marker to school for math whiteboard practice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Project Cornerstone will begin this week on Thursday!

Each Friday is Alta Vista Spirit Day, please wear Blue and Yellow or Gold! (If we win, we get to hang out with the school mascot all week!)

I have been posting fun things we do in our classroom on my twitter: @misssschott - feel free to check it out!

We have a couple of upcoming projects!

  1. California Regions Google Slides Project a & Presentation (due 9/22)
  2. Mystery Book Report (due 9/27)

Information regarding the Mystery Book Report was sent home in your child's Wednesday envelope. There are also digital instructions, rubrics, and samples on my website under: Homework --> Projects.

Go Scorpions!
