The Adirondack Park contains 6.1 million acres of private and public land in upstate New York. Around 130,000 people live within the park year round and many more come to visit as tourists. This website looks at the impact that tourism has on the park. Tourism is a vital part of the economies of most towns within the park. However, tourism also had led to increasing overuse of hiking trails and overcrowding of park towns. During the two weeks we spent in the park, we interviewed as many people as possible in order to get local and tourist views on tourism in the Adirondacks.
