CP violation in Beauty and Charm hadron decays; Search for Beyond the Standard Model processes in rare decays; Tracking and Alignment in Particle Physics detectors; Software development for Particle Physics experiments.
After obtaining a PhD from the University of Bari (2011) with my search for CP violation in D⁰→K⁺K⁻π⁺π⁻ decays from the BaBar experiment and a brief visit of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (Stanford, CA, USA), I moved to the LHCb experiment at CERN.
During my postdoc at Nikhef (Amsterdam, NL) I roamed among the large possibilities offered by the then-new LHCb and, together with my long-standing search for CP violation in charm decays, I searched for long-lived exotic particles that could provide hints of processes beyond the Standard Model if observed. My contributions to the experiment have also been on the operations side: I was responsible of the alignment of the LHCb detector and I coordinated the Tracking and Alignment working group.
In 2014, I joined the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of the EPFL (Lausanne, CH). There, I kept working in the LHCb experiment and I expanded the range of my searches to CP violation to beauty baryon decays and in the oscillations of charm mesons, while continuing to guarantee the correct alignment of the LHCb detector until 2018.
After a brief experience as a CERN fellow in 2018, during which I coordinated the LHCb Charm working group, I joined the University of Milano Bicocca as a tenure-track assistant professor in 2019. My focus is now on the preparation of the upcoming running of the upgraded LHCb detector in 2022. In Bicocca we are developing the software to analyse the huge amount of data that will be collected and we are preparing the analyses that will further clarify our understanding of Nature.
