Following the success of its inaugural edition, which brought together more than 600 participants and received support from major companies in the health sector, the University of Marília (UNIMAR) and the Unimar Charitable Hospital (HBU) proudly present the 2nd SICS—International Symposium on Health Sciences: Chronic Diseases and Mental Health—Challenges and Innovations in a World in Transformation. The event returns with an even more comprehensive and timely proposal, bringing to the forefront the impacts of obesity, diabetes, and mental disorders in a constantly evolving world, especially in light of technological advancements, personalized medicine, and social inequalities.

The 2026 edition expands its approach to comprehensively address contemporary public health challenges, focusing on noncommunicable chronic diseases—especially obesity and diabetes—and their direct interrelation with mental disorders.

The proposal is to explore solutions from multiple perspectives: clinical, technological, interdisciplinary, and social. Among the topics addressed: Personalized and integrative medicine in chronic disease care, Emerging technologies and artificial intelligence in health, Phytochemicals, lifestyle, and evidence-based interventions, Obesity and diabetes from the perspective of prevention, treatment, population mental health in vulnerable populations, startups, and technological inclusion in care.

The event attracts participants from across the region, with consistent growth in registrations, scientific papers submitted, institutional engagement, and interest from major health and pharmaceutical brands.

Sponsors such as Ribertec, Libbs, AstraZeneca, and Blau Pharmaceutical have already recognized its potential. Held at the Unimar Beneficent Hospital and the university’s high-tech facilities, SICS reinforces UNIMAR’s role as a reference in scientific production, academic innovation, and commitment to public health.
