Specialization Elective
Credit Hour : 3
Synopsis
The aim of the course will be to create data analysts that can identify patterns and display information from data from several sources. The course will encourage statistical thinking by a series of examples of good and not-so-good visualisations and will guide students to develop their creativity within a scientific framework. Hands-on experience in using data analytics software tools for visualisation will also be covered.
This course will cover the fundamentals of effective data-driven storytelling. Students will learn how to detect and articulate the stories behind datasets and communicate data findings in visual, oral, and written contexts for various audiences and public. Topics to be explored include Introduction to Exploratory Data Analysis and Visualization, Pattern Discovery, Graphical Visualization, Testing data quality through graphs, Storytelling with Data and Case Studies in Exploratory Data Analysis for different applications
