University of Lagos
Julius is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, specialising in Computational and Applied Mathematics. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Lagos State University (LASU), and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the prestigious University of Lagos.
From 2015 to 2017, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Nanjing Agricultural University, China, where he was an active member of the Computational Biology Research Group. His work there focused on developing novel geometric integrators for genetic regulatory systems. During his fellowship in Nanjing, he secured several research grants, a success he has continued to replicate at the University of Lagos, where he has also received multiple research and conference travel grants.
In 2019, Julius was awarded the European Mathematical Society–Simons Visiting Fellowship at Southern Methodist University, Texas, USA, where he studied exponential integrators with applications to genetic regulatory systems. In 2022, he received the IMU–Simons African Fellowship at Mississippi State University, and in 2025 he was honoured as the APSA Awards winner for the whole of Africa.
His research interests lie in developing advanced time-integration schemes, including Runge–Kutta methods, for the efficient simulation of ordinary and partial differential equations, as well as in computing numerical solutions to fractional partial differential equations. He has contributed significantly to applied mathematics through collaborative research on a wide range of complex problems, including genetic regulatory systems, celestial mechanics, nonlinear forced vibrations, and nonlinear atomic vibrations.
Julius has presented his research at numerous local and international conferences, and continues to foster collaboration and innovation in applied and computational mathematics.
