Prop. W + Prop. P

A responsible plan to address the changing needs of Sergeant Bluff-Luton students, growing community and aging facilities.

About The Proposals

If approved by voters, Prop. W + Prop. P would provide funding for the community-created long-range facilities plan by restoring our local property tax rate to the 2015/16 level.

The State of Iowa requires school districts to ask voters for permission to issue bonds for construction, and permission to increase the tax rate to generate revenue to pay back the bonds. Because of this, two proposals are required.

Prop. W would allow the District to issue $62 million in bonds, while Prop. P would restore the local property tax rate to the 2015-16 level to fund repayment of the bonds. This rate would decrease as construction is completed. At the start of the project, the owner of a home with a $200,000 assessed value would see an additional investment of around $8.17 per week.

Voters need to approve both proposals to implement the long-range facilities plan.
