Luca Venturino received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Italy, in 2006. Over the years, he has held several international visiting appointments, including at NEC Laboratories America in Princeton, USA (2006–2008), and at Columbia University in New York, USA (2004, 2009, 2022, 2024, 2025). From 2011 to 2017, he served as an external consultant for the Space and Avionic Division of Leonardo (formerly Selex ES and Selex Galileo). Since 2006, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, where he is currently Full Professor of Telecommunications.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the Italian National Telecommunications and Information Theory Group (GTTI) and the Italian Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT). He also serves as System Expert for ANVUR, the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes.
His research interests focus on signal processing for detection, estimation, and resource allocation in wireless communications and radar systems. He is co-recipient of the 2025 IEEE SPS Best Paper Award. He currently serves as Senior Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Radar Systems. Previously, he served as Senior Area Editor for IEEE Signal Processing Letters and Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and IEEE Signal Processing Letters.
