The course focuses on the mathematical concepts behind the most commonly used algorithms in cryptography. It starts with a quick introduction to the algebraic concepts needed and then proceeds to discuss some of the algorithms used in modern cryptography.
The lecture notes and exercises are made available during the course

Software
For the computations involving modular arithmetic one can use GAP. See the GAP manual for instructions. An example how to use GAP can be found in the folder.
Signing up for the exam on ESSE3 is obligatory and needs to be done at least 120 hours before the beginning of the exam. In case you encounter problems with ESSE3 you should contact the lecturer before the deadline for signing up.
The written exam will take place in a laboratory. The use of GAP is allowed with a restricted set of commands. The final grade will be established after discussing the exam. The review sheet will give an idea of the structure of the written exam (for regular exam sessions).
