Marianna holds a degree in Ecology from UNESP – Rio Claro and has recently started her master’s program in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity. Her project is an extension of the research she conducted during her undergraduate studies, focusing on genes involved in terpene biosynthesis. The main objectives are to describe the evolutionary history of these genes, identify and characterize them, and finally perform comparative analyses among species.

The objective of the present study is to investigate the diversity, evolution, and structural organization of the DXR (1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate reductoisomerase) and MVK (mevalonate kinase) genes in angiosperms, with a focus on five species native to the Atlantic Forest: Allophylus edulis, Cupania vernalis, Guarea kunthiana, Lacistema hasslerianum, and Pera glabrata. This study aims to deepen the understanding and characterization of these genes, which play key roles in terpene biosynthesis pathways.
