What is Sustainable Trailblazing?
Sustainable trailblazing involves creating safe trails for current and future generations to experience while minimizing impacts on wildlife and the natural environment. The Trust is dedicated to maintaining the natural and cultural heritage of our conserved lands. Therefore, we are constantly pursuing sustainable practices that promote the balance of conservation, education, and recreation in our community.
What is Our Goal?
In 2021, the Trust began restoration work on a prior excavation site in Kennebunkport to establish a new place where pollinators, pets, and people could converge among undeveloped habitats. After restoring the land, the Meadow Woods Preserve was born.
Our sustainable trail will enable people to connect and immerse themselves in a unique ecosystem, which is essential for promoting environmental conservation. Help us build our 2.5 mile trail system for the preserve by reading below!

On the QGIS map above, the red line represents the new trail system proposed by the University of New England Sustainability Fellows, Mia Meister and Juliann Lapierre, who will both be managing the current Meadow Woods Preserve trailblazing efforts. The new trail will be a continuation of the established ADA accessible red trail located in the Bryant Parcel. Volunteers can choose to help with trailblazing efforts, installing boardwalks, posting trail signage, and/or organizing relevant community events.
