Sunday 12th November 1989, 11.30 a.m.
The November sun
Catches the medals
Of the old man
As he makes his way
Through the park.
Green fingers
From Spring flowers
Show themselves
In the warm earth
Beneath the wheels
Of his wheelchair
Too early.
In another land
East is meeting West.
And the people are dancing
And embracing
On top of a broken wall.
The old soldier
Sighs a sigh
For the folly of flowers
and men.

The theme today is Global Peace
What is the broken wall that is referred to in this poem?
What other walls are there in the world that try to keep people apart?
What wall is this picture drawn on?
Who is Banksy, and what does he do?
What would you draw on a wall that divided your community?
