My love
My love
Earthing downwards,
Yearning upwards,
Knows fields and sky.
It flows along
Train lines,
And connects
To other hearts
Bouncing off
Satellites,
It curls up in laptops,
And speaks its name.
Rising
To my eyes,
Meeting yours,
It heals.
Suspending
Past and future,
My love
Is always and already
Enough.

The theme today is peace, friends and family and inner peace
At this time of lockdown, we are all missing family and friends so much. We can express love and friendship over screens and the internet, but this rarely feels enough. This is a poem about holding people we love in our minds and imagining lines of connection between us, like train lines. When you hold people you love in your mind and connect with them in your heart, you can feel as if you were with them. This can help you to feel loved yourself, even if you are on your own.
Find somewhere to sit quietly, try to relax and focus on your breathing
Think about the people you love, each in turn. Bring them to your mind and wish them all good things - health, happiness, freedom from suffering. Spend as much time as you can on each person.
You should notice that you are feeling calmer and more connected when you have finished. It's funny how sending love to other people makes us feel loved ourselves. It's also good to be reminded that we can love people without expecting anything in return.
If you like, you could write about what how you felt when you did this exercise.
