Forever Changed
When her mum asked
How many greens?
She started
With two
Perhaps three.
She counted
The emeralds
The mosses
The ivy
The stone.
At thirty
They stopped,
Turned homewards.
Laughing eyes
Swimming with green.
And now,
At her graveside
She mouthes
Her thanks.
Because
When someone
Asks you
‘How many greens?’
You are
Forever changed.

The theme today is Peace and Our Planet as we continue to think about the climate emergency, and the young people who are on strike today and every Friday to draw attention to it. We need to take greater care of our planet, and to do that we need to love it. One way to learn to love our planet more is to really see it. The poem and the picture encourage us to look again at the things that we take for granted and to see the beauty that surrounds us with fresh eyes.
Go to a park or a field or a garden, or look at a tree, and count how many shades of green you can see
Take a picute on your phone or do a drawing that shows a range of different colours of green
