25th March 2017
Walking along cliffs,
Breathing warm damp odours
Of wild garlic, hawthorn blossom
And oyster-tasting wind.
Copper sulphate sea,
Sprinkled with white.
Fresh green fields,
With celandine yellow.
Kissing at gates
We brush past gorse
That blooms eternal
Like love
And a red admiral
Flutters past
On day-long wings
Gracing us
This day is our day.

The theme today is peace and our planet and peace, friends and family
The poem is about a happy day spent in Nature, and the photo shows a happy day at the beach. They celebrate sights, smells, tastes and feelings. The butterfly is there as a reminder of how short and intense life is. Can you imagine what it would be like to be carried along on day-long wings?
Can you think of a happy day that you have spent somewhere in Nature? Notice what happens when you call this happy day to mind. Perhaps you could ask someone close to you about thier happy day. Can you remember how to listen well?
Think about what you will do to show that you are listening. What will you do with your eyes, your face, your hands?
How will you make sure that you focus just on them, and not on your own thoughts?
What will you say at the end to show then how well you have listened?
What do you notice about your own feelings during this? What you you notice about theirs? How can you use your listening skills more often to give someone the gift of our focussed listening?
