PERFORMER BIOS

Yuliya Donovan

Yuliya Donovan (Dr. Meescham) is a current MFA Acting student at UNCG. She is a company member with Emit Theatre. She will be playing the role of Jessie in Sweat in Spring of 2022 for her Master Production Role. Past film credits include: Stasia, Kosmonavt; Lana, J1; Denise, You’re Up. Stage credits include: Emilia, Othello; Rosaline, Love’s Labour's Lost; Lady Capulet, Romeo and Juliet; Lorna, Big Mistake. She holds the role of Dr. Meescham close to her heart. It is dedicated to her grandmother and mother, both women who come from an old world. Kisses to Chris.



Stetson Smith

Stetson Smith (Ulysses) Originally from Florida, Stetson has spent the last decade in Lubbock, Texas where he earned a B.F.A in theatre from Texas Tech University. He is currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Acting at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro.

Riley Simutami

Riley Simutami (Ernie/Ensemble) is a Sophomore BA Drama major at UNCG. He has performed in different student projects around campus as well as Skeleton Crew in the fall 2020 semester. His hobbies are dancing, video games, listening to and creating music, and playing and watching sports. He is very excited to work with his cast and crew and for people to come see the show.




Vance Routh

Vance Routh (Alfred T. Slipper/ Incandesto) Vance is a Senior at UNCG pursuing a BA in Drama, At UNCG he has been a part of Shakespeare In Love and is excited to be back performing in Taylor Theatre. Vance would like to thank his family, friends, and this incredible group of artists who made this show possible.

Sebastian Newlin

Sebastian Newlin (Mr. Tickham/Mr. Klaus/Ensemble) is currently a sophomore in the BA Drama program here at UNCG. He is very excited to make his UNCG stage debut in Flora and Ulysses. Some of his favorite past roles include Lola's Dad in That's Not How I Remembered It, Michael Kelly in The Musical Comedy Murders of the 1940s, and William Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Sebastian would like to thank his friends and family for their support, and also the cast and crew for bringing this story to the stage.

Zaynah Gatling

Zaynah Gatling (Flora Buckman) senior Theatre Education Major at UNCG graduating in Spring 2022. Zaynah has been in a few UNCG productions ranging from acting, stage managing, as well as being on crew. Her most recent role was as the English Chaplin in the UNCG production of St.Joan. She will graduate Spring 2022 and plans on focing on her acting career for a year, transitioning back into teaching for a few years, and eventually dreams of having her own acting studio outside of North Carolina.

Kayla Cruz

Kayla Cruz (Rita/Ensemble) is in her senior year here at UNCG. She is pursuing her BA in Drama with a minor in Musical Theatre. This is her second production at UNCG and she is very excited to be a part of this amazing cast. Her recent credits include Ensemble in Mamma Mia! (HPCT), Homeless in Marisol (UNCG), Ensemble in Pippin (Studio 1) and Featured Dancer in Spamalot (HPCT). Kayla would like to thank her friends and family for their continuous support!

Lissa Pope

Lissa Pope (Phyllis Buckman) is a sophomore BFA actor with a minor in musical theatre. She would like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her, so much love!



Teondré Chappelle

Teondré Chappelle (George Buckman) is a Senior BA in Drama here at UNCG. You may recognize him from last years NCTYP production of ‘The Tales of the Arabian Nights’ (Prince Ahmed). He would like to recognize everyone who helped him get to this point. He would like to give a big shout out to his friends who continue to support him, his family who gave him the inspiration to act, the cast and crew of Flora & Ulysses who have given him the best tools to grow as an actor, as well as the professors of UNCG. Lastly, he would like to thank John Perine, for giving him the opportunity to be apart of this amazing project.

John Perine

John Perine (Director) is a second year MFA Theatre for Youth candidate from Franklin, TN. Last year, he directed WHERE WORDS ONCE WERE and FEEDING THE MOONFISH. John earned his BFA in Theatre for Youth at Samford University, where he directed THE PAVILION, GIDION'S KNOT, and PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, which received nominations for Best Musical of the Decade and Best Director of a Musical of the Decade by BroadwayWorld Birmingham. John has additionally worked as a teaching artist at Lexington Children’s Theatre (Lexington, KY) and The Rose Theater (Omaha, NE). www.johnperine.com

Jada Alexandria Young

Jade Alexandria Young (Assistant Director) is excited to be assistant directing her first production! She's extremely grateful to John Perine for giving her this opportunity and feels blessed to have been a part of the process. This will be her sixth production at UNCG. Some of her previous roles include Eden from "Feeding the Moonfish" by Barbara Whiechmann and Echo from "Polaroid Stories" by Naomi Iizuka.

Texas Singleton

Texas Singleton (Stage Manager) Texas is a senior BFA Design/Technical Production Major focusing in Stage Management. Texas's other stage management experience at UNCG includes 'Where Words Once Were' (Stage Manager) and 'The Arkansaw Bear' (Stage Manager). Texas Would like to thank her family and friends for their love and support as well as her professors for their help and guidance. She could not have done any of this without you! Texas is beyond grateful to be a part of such a beautiful production and hopes you enjoy the show as much as she has!

Kelly Sandoval

Kelly Sandoval (Lighting Designer) is a second-year MFA Design student originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Catawba College and has worked in various theaters across the country including The Santa Fe Opera and The Rev. Her previous design credits include How We Got Here and The World on a Hill at UNCG and The Curious Case of the Watson Intelligence and Sister of the Stars at Catawba College.

Eric Cox

Eric Cox (Assistant Lighting Designer) is a Henderson State University Alumnus where he studied Theatre Production and Design. During his undergrad his primary focus was in lighting design, scenic design, and technical direction. Eric is now pursuing an MFA with the School of Theatre at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he is continuing his studies in Theatre Production and Design. Elsa Wansink (Tootie Tickham) is a senior in the BFA Acting program at UNCG. Her previous credits include Polaroid Stories (Eurydice), Hairspray (Penny Pingleton) and The Witches (Porcelain Doll). She is so happy to be a part of this production and hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Annabelle Leibering

Annabelle Leibering (Scenic Designer) is a senior at UNC Greensboro pursuing her BFA in Scenic Design and Scenic Painting. She would like to thank her assistant designer, Natalie, for being her right hand man throughout this process. Huge thanks also go out to her technical director, Emmett, the production team, advising faculty, and many helping hands that have made this show possible. She is very grateful for every member of the design team, as well as John, for their collaboration and beautiful ideas. I have loved creating this world, and I hope you enjoy the show!

Rachel Lake

Rachel Lake (Projections Designer) is an MFA Design Candidate at UNCG School of Theatre. Previous Lighting Design credits at UNCG include As You Like it by Shaina Taub, Roman Fever, MFA Blue (Incognito and Here We Go) and MFA Gold (Feeding the Moonfish and Arkansaw Bear). Before coming to Greensboro, she was a Lighting Designer for Lookingglass SummerGlass, Eclectic Full Contact Theatre, Hell in a Handbag Productions, Three Crows Theater, and New American Folk Theater. She also worked as an Assistant Lighting Designer at Goodman Theatre and American Blues Theatre.

Emma Estelle Beneck

Emma Estelle Beneck (Assistant Costume Designer/Wardrobe Supervisor): is a junior at UNCG earning her BFA in Design and Technical Production and a minor in Musical Theatre. She has also participated in Feeding the Moonfish and Polaroid Stories here at UNCG. Emma loves participating in UNCG theatre because she feels like she is helping making the world a better place through her art.

Brianca Robinson

Brianca Robinson (costume designer) I’m a Senior at UNCG, designing my second show here. I enjoy children’s theatre and hope to continue more shows like this once my student career at UNCG has ended. My plans for the future are to design costumes for film and television.

Julia Janssen

Julia Janssen (Assistant Stage Manager)

Julia is a senior at UNCG with plans to join the Peace Corps for agriculture next summer. She thanks the incredible theatre community of Wilmington NC for introducing her to the art. She has worked at Theater Now, Big Dawg, and CFCC Wilson Center with the touring shows; The Color Purple, Something Rotten, The Sound of Music, Kinky Boots and a few others. She also thanks of course her Mother, Father, and Grandmothers for their never ending support.



Melissa VanCura

Melissa VanCura (Hair & Makeup Designer)

A senior at UNCG transferred from valencia college in Orlando Fl, her focus is on wig and costume. Other work: lilly's purple plastic purse (paint/props) falstaff (stitcher) saint joan (stitcher) Thank you to all my teachers that encourage me and help me to succeed every day

Rachel Ward

Rachel Ward (Assistant Stage Manager) is a junior and this is their 1st production with UNCG working on the stage management team. Rachel is a BFA Design/Tech student with a concentration in costumes, but they've always loved stage management, and are very thankful to the rest of the SM team for being so welcoming and understanding throughout the rehearsal process. Things have been difficult during the pandemic, but this show has been a bright spot for them and they hope it will become a moment of happiness for the audience as well. Enjoy the show!
