This course is a studio approach to addressing challenges in interaction design. The course addresses a specific interaction modality or challenge in a comprehensive design process that includes a precedent study, user research, design pitch, design concept, and finishes with a working prototype. The 2022 Spring semester focused on designing interactive augmented reality experiences for one of these topics:
· Developing cultural awareness.
· Developing enhanced retail experiences.
· Developing collaborative tools for the AEC (Architecture, Construction and Engineering) industry.
Below are the final project presentations from students that participated in the studio.

The working title of our App is Material City. Our team want to combine three objectives in our tool - design, communication, education. Using our system users should be able to track and understand the specifics of structural challenges (for example load distribution and material choice and qualities). Material City should help them to make a better decision about architectural projects, to avoid wrong evaluations and to contribute their opinions into the project. Each citizen will be able to visualize on the spot the future urban transformations of the cities. We plan to add some drawing features, so users can contribute visual suggestions into the project as well as a special platform where users can discuss the projects.

We designed an app ‘ExplorAR’ which uses augmented reality to give tourists and locals enhanced exploration and cultural awareness coupled with seamless user experience. It will provide text, audio and 3D models of the places of interest for the users. The tagline for our brand is ‘Augment your travel!’

Our app helps users to easily find products location in the store and navigate to that location. Also, if they scan the barcode of the product, the app will show all kinds of details and its 'health' score based on its ingredients. It can also provide a list of items as recommendation if the score of the selected product is bad. Using navigation the user can find the recommended item quickly.

The main goal of the app is to help enhance social interaction in various ways, whether it be by helping those who are shy and more introverted make new connections and meet new people with more confidence, or by helping people quickly find and meet people who have the same interests as them. This app would bridge the gap between physical and virtual socialization.

The main idea of our app is to bring the whole retail experience to the home. Our idea is to bring both clothing and accessories within a single app. Users will be able to find the best fit for clothing or the best option for furniture. Since there are no physical fitting rooms required and you don’t have to make any purchases of items to place around your house, users will be sure that they are only purchasing what they want. This will mean that fewer products will be returned after purchase. The app will provide easy access to the types of items that the customers are searching for. It will give recommendations based on products that they have previously searched for.
