Statement of College/Department Mission, Vision, and Objectives
B.1. As avenue of implementation of the institution’s vision, mission, goals, and core values, each college/department translates the institutional vision, mission, and goals into its own vision, mission, and objectives, in accordance with its specific requirements and the needs of the graduates in their professional and workplace practice. The following are the statements of college/department vision, mission, and objectives:
The School of Computer and Information Sciences envisions itself to be an institution of academic excellence in the fields of Computer Science, Information Technology, and Library and Information Science, transforming students into productive, socially-responsible, and globally competitive individuals.
The School commits itself to providing flexible, relevant, responsive, and quality education programs that will enable students to secure the needed expertise and professional competence in the fields of Computer Science, Information Technology, and Library and Information Science.
Produce individuals who excel in the mentioned fields.
Provide innovative, relevant, and quality education programs ensuring students acquire technical expertise and professional competence.
Conduct relevant and quality research contributing to technological and intellectual advancement in the mentioned fields.
Provide practical workplace training and occupational experiences through industry linkages to enhance students' technical skills and prepare them for professional careers.
INTEGRITY
Ethical consciousness, honesty, and trustworthiness in the conduct of one's self as a student and as a future professional.
TEAMWORK
Ability to work with diverse and dynamic individuals for the achievement of a goal, setting aside personal differences and emotional preferences.
EMPOWERMENT
Capacity to think freely and creatively to adjust to different workplace situations and the ability to be self-directed in the search for solutions to various situations in the workplace.
Educational Objectives of the Program and Program Outcomes or Student Learning Outcomes
C.1. The educational objectives of the program are competencies and professional accomplishments of graduates, three to five years after graduation. The following are the educational objectives of the program:
C.2. The program outcomes/student learning outcomes are statements of the desired competencies and skills that graduates must be able to do before they graduate. The following are the program outcomes/student learning outcomes
Three to five years after graduation, Master in Library and Information Science graduates are expected to become globally competitive librarians through the aid of continuing education and by gaining leadership responsibilities as guided by the university and the college's core values.
Upon graduation, the graduate of this program can:
Demonstrate the ability to do technical works (i.e. cataloging, indexing, abstracting) in the field of library and information science.
Apply creative and critical thinking skills in addressing issues in librarianship and information science and research capabilities in analyzing, interpreting, evaluating, synthesizing, disseminating and/or applying theoretical and practical knowledge on the different aspects of library and information science.
Demonstrate competence in preparing proposals and innovative programs for strategic management and exhibited positive attitude and ethical values that contribute to the success of the library organization.
Awareness, Acceptance, and Implementation of the Faculty, Student, and Staff of the Institutional Philosophy, College/Department Vision, Mission
D.1. Faculty
D.1.1. There is faculty participation in the formulation, review, and/or revision of the institutional philosophy and the objectives of the college(s)/program(s).
D.1.2. Incoming members of the faculty are oriented on the philosophy and objectives through appropriate orientation activities.
D.1.3. There is evidence of integration and dissemination of the institutional philosophy and program objectives and outcomes by the faculty in their respective syllabi.
D.1.4. Each member of the faculty has been provided with copies of the institutional philosophy and the objectives and outcomes of his/her program(s).
