The 7th International Conference on Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering (ICCBPE 2026) is a flagship international event organized by the Chemical Engineering Programme, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The conference serves as a dynamic platform for engineers, researchers, academics, and industry professionals to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and present innovative solutions that advance the field of chemical and bioprocess engineering.
Aligned with the conference theme, “Chemical Engineering as an Enabler for Championing SDGs”, ICCBPE 2026 highlights the critical role of chemical engineers in promoting sustainable development through responsible innovation, circular economy practices, green technologies, and process intensification. The conference programme features keynote lectures, technical paper presentations, panel discussions, and networking sessions, enabling participants to explore practical and emerging approaches to addressing global challenges in energy, water, waste management, food systems, and environmental protection. Through these engagements, ICCBPE 2026 aims to foster meaningful contributions toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Focusing on sustainable and resource-efficient chemical processes that minimize environmental impact and maximize productivity.
Scope: Sustainable process design and intensification; Low-carbon process design, carbon capture technologies, and decarbonization strategies for sustainable industries; Cleaner production and circular economy; Process safety and optimization; Waste minimization and energy-efficient operations; Sustainable industrial practices aligned with SDG 12 & 13
2.Process Systems Engineering, Control, and Digitalization:
Emphasizing the integration of process control, system optimization, and digital tools to enhance efficiency and sustainability in industrial operations.
Scope: Process modelling, simulation, and control; Optimization and automation systems; Artificial intelligence and data-driven process management; Process safety, reliability, and fault detection; Digital twin and Industry 4.0 applications
3.Environmental Engineering and Waste-to-Energy Innovation:
Promoting environmentally responsible engineering solutions for waste management, pollution control, and renewable energy recovery.
Scope: Environmental impact assessment and mitigation; Waste-to-energy and waste valorization technologies; Low-cost environmental technology for rural development; Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies; CO₂ reduction and climate-action-driven engineering solutions; Air, water, and soil pollution management; Resource recovery and circular bioeconomy
4.Bioprocess, Bioresources, and Bioproduct Engineering:
Focusing on biotechnological innovation and bioresource utilization, this track explores processes for bioproduct, biopolymer, and bioenergy generation.
Scope: Bioprocess and bioreactor design; Biogas and biofuel production; Fermentation and enzymatic processes; Bioresource utilization and biopolymer synthesis; Biomass conversion and renewable biochemical production
5.Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology, and Catalysis:
Highlighting the emerging materials and nanotechnology advancements that enable cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable chemical processes.
Scope: Nanomaterials and nanocomposites; Functional materials for catalysis and separation; Advanced membranes and sorbents; Smart materials for energy and environmental applications; Nanotechnology for bioprocess and renewable systems
6.Engineering Education, Innovation, and Future Skills:
Focusing on innovative teaching and learning methods, skill development, and educational transformation to produce future-ready engineers.
Scope: Engineering education and curriculum innovation; Digital pedagogy and flexible learning design; CDIO, PBL, and sustainability-oriented education models; Industry–academia collaboration in education; Future skills and leadership for sustainable engineering
