Dr. Din (Hafizuddin Wan Yussof) is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Natural Resources, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). He was born in Besut, Terengganu in September 1977. Dr. Din completed his primary education at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Tengku Mahmud, Besut, Terengganu. His secondary school was at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tok Jiring (now known as Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Dato' Haji Abbas). Later Dr. Din attended MARA Junior Science College Kuala Terengganu (MRSM KT), Terengganu.

Dr. Din completed his Bachelor Degree in Bio-process Engineering at the Faculty of Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in October 2000. His interests in Bio-process Engineering made him pursued his Master Degree in Bio-process Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamad Roji Sarmidi, Professor in Bio-process Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He completed his master in October 2004. Dr. Din received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Newcastle University, UK in March 2012 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Adam Harvey, Professor of Process Intensification.

Prior to join Universiti Malaysia Pahang in February 2005, Dr. Din was the Research Officer (2000 - 2002) at Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant, UTM, and Production Engineer (2004 - 2005) at Stevian Biotechnology Sdn. Bhd., Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (now known as Purecircle Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.).

Dr. Din research interests are in the application of bio-processing and bio-product development to human health. His current researches are mainly in bio-conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into bio-sugars, bio-fuels, fine and specialty chemicals, industrial enzyme application in various bio-processing, screening and optimization of bio-processing parameters using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and in bio-process and fermentation technology using bacteria and fungi.

Dr. Din is a member of Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM – Reg. No. 36320R) and associated member of Energy Institute, UK (EI Reg. No. 0064373).

Dr. Din is passionate about making a difference and enjoys exploring new ideas. In his free time, he trains for endurance sports such as cycling and half-marathon.
