Alayande Samson Oluwagbemiga is presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Chemistry and Pioneer Director, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office, First Technical University, Ibadan, Nigeria. He specializes in Nanotechnology, Materials and Green Chemistry. He is a seasoned chemist, distinguished scholar and researcher of high repute. He holds a Ph.D in Industrial Chemistry of the Federal University of Agriculture, Nigeria. He holds a visiting senior researcher position at Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability, University of South Africa, South Africa and Visiting Professor on Green Chemistry to Center for Sustainable Polymer, University of Minnesota, USA. Dr Alayande is an outstanding international scholar and widely travelled. He is the Africa continent focal person on Sustainable and Green Chemistry and member of Africa experts on review of Global Chemical Outlook II. He has made excellent research output in hybrid nanofibre composites, nanoporous membrane technology, colorimetric sensor, biosensor materials, renewable energy, nanomaterials for photo-catalysis, green nanotechnology, nanobiotechnology, sustainable water treatment, advanced waste water treatment, e.t.c. Furthermore, he was an active member behind the invention of a point-of-use nanoporous water purification technology that attracted a national award as the 2nd best at the National Universities Research and Development Fair (NURESDEF 2012) which attracted all Universities in Nigeria. It is worth of note that Dr Alayande has four patents to his credit. He is the author/co-author about sixty scientific publications and proceedings. He has participated and organized several international and local conferences within and outside Africa. Dr Alayande has mentored five (5) Master students and one (1) doctoral student. He is currently the PI on “nanostructuring of polymer waste as resistivity sensor”, a project funded by Federal Government of Nigeria. He is an alumnus of Leuphana University Sustainable Chemistry Summer School, Germany. He is the continent focal person on Green Chemistry Commitment organized by Beyond Benign, USA. Administratively, he is the pioneer Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office, First Technical University, Ibadan. He is currently Executive Director, Network of Early Career Scientists and Engineers (an online professional network); Chair, Materials Research Cluster; Member, University ICT Steering Committee; Coordinator, Faculty Seminar; Member, Student Orientation Committee; Chair, Faculty Result Verification Committee; Member, University Time-Table Committee; Member, University Academic Brief Committee; Member, University Academic Planning Committee. Reviewers of numerous reputable restricted international, professional and institutional journals.He is happily married to Omolola and blessed with children. He loves travelling, critical & strategic thinking, site seeing, and table tennis.
