Psychology + Public Health

The Mind-Body Trauma Care Research Team, headed by Dr. Viann Nguyen-Feng, integrates psychology & public health.

Our research team aims to increase access to psychotherapeutic care, particularly among in-need groups such as those who have experienced potentially traumatic life events.

This research addresses access to care issues in two main ways:

  1. bringing holistic, trauma-informed interventions (e.g., trauma-sensitive yoga, mind-body integration, mental and physical health integration, context-inclusive approaches) to individuals who might not otherwise access them;
  2. developing interventions that broaden psychotherapy's reach (e.g., technological, community-based) while evaluating what works best and for whom.

We aim to serve at-risk and under-recognized groups, such as those exposed to interpersonal traumas (e.g., emotional abuse), those who have disabling life experiences, and those with marginalized identities.
