The Department of Dermatology offers two residencies, three fellowships, and courses for current University of Minnesota medical students. These programs and courses are designed to provide students with the highest quality of training by introducing hands-on experiential training earlier in their studies. Students are also taught and training by physicians who are highly acclaimed in their subspecialty and recognized for their academic work.
The Dermatology residency program consists of three years of Dermatology specialty training after one has completed a preliminary or transitional year.
The Minnesota Medicine-Dermatology Training Program has designed five years of joint Medicine and Dermatology rotations and graduates of the program are eligible to take both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Dermatology certification exams.
The one-year Procedural Dermatology Fellowship provides a unique balance of training in topics important in becoming a dermatologic surgeon and will cover training in Mohs and reconstructive surgery, laser surgery and medicine, and cosmetic surgery.
The one-year Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship is a combination of experiential, research and didactic experience.
The one-year Dermato-Allergology Fellowship is a combination of experiential, research and didactic experience.
