MASONIC CANCER CENTER

About Us

The Masonic Cancer Center creates a collaborative research environment focused on the causes, prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer; applying that knowledge to improve quality of life for patients and survivors; and sharing its discoveries with other scientists, students, professionals, and the community.

Founded in 1991, the cancer center became a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in 1998, one of only 51 institutions in the United States and two in Minnesota to hold that designation.

Collaborate

The Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) team’s mission is to reduce the burden of cancer in Minnesota by engaging communities and providing them access to knowledge and information about cancer prevention, treatment, survivorship, and clinical research opportunities.

The Community Outreach and Engagement team is able to work with you and your organization, group, classroom, or community. We look forward to establishing an ongoing program series, one-time event, tour a lab, speaking engagement, or tabling opportunity in a way that works best for your group.

The Office of Community Outreach and Engagement recently launched a new virtual series called Fireside Chats with the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement. The Fireside Chats are free monthly sessions intended to educate community audiences on cancer and health-related topics presented by experts in easy to understand language.

Experts give flash talks on a particular cancer or health-related topic followed by a discussion that allows community audiences to engage in conversation and ask questions "fireside chat style." Some sessions will include a discussion with a panel of experts.

For information on upcoming Fireside Chats and to view previous Fireside Chats, please visit cancer.umn.edu/coe/fireside-chats.

Find more resources, information and activities offered by the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement at MCC Online, a website filled with cancer and health education for the whole family.

We are proud to offer resources in a variety of languages and across many cancer related topics including disease specific information, gardening and nutrition, and kid-friendly learning.

The Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota is the proud co-presenter of the successful THRIVE Series for cancer survivors. The THRIVE Series is a free series that provides those interested in learning more about cancer survivorship with education and resources on a variety of topics straight from local experts.
