AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

About Us

About the American Cancer Society

At the American Cancer Society, we have a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. We're improving the lives of cancer patients and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

What We Do

While most people know us for our research, we do so much more. We work to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. We advocate for lifesaving policy changes. We promote healthy lifestyles to help you prevent cancer. We research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatments. We provide information, answers, and support to people in every community who have been touched by cancer. And we do it all 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

ACS CARES

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with cancer, deciding what's next can be overwhelming. ACS CARES™ (Community Access to Resources, Education and Support) equips those facing cancer with curated content, programs, and services to fid their specific cancer journey. Visit ACS CARES online or download the app.

Volunteer to Help People Facing Cancer

Road To Recovery

ACS is seeking volunteers to drive cancer patients to treatment appointments. Access to timely, high-quality treatment can often be a cancer patient’s largest roadblock to survival. Many patients must schedule daily or weekly appointments for several months, keeping friends and family from being able to provide all the support needed.

Our Road To Recovery program fills this gap by offering free rides to patients. Volunteer drivers are urgently needed in the Twin Cities metro, St. Louis and Olmsted Counties in Minnesota and in La Crosse County, WI.

Hope Lodge

The Society’s Hope Lodge program provides free, safe, comfortable and convenient lodging  - plus so much more - for patients (and caregivers) who need to travel from home to get the cancer treatment they need.

To learn more about support groups, activities and / or volunteer opportunities, such as “Cooking Up Hope,” please email HopeLodgeMinneapolisMN@cancer.org or HopeLodgeRochesterMN@cancer.org (Rochester Hope Lodge).
