Lyisa was born in China and is completing a B.S. in Chemistry at Macalester College. She is currently a computational chemistry research intern at the Ramirez group, working on DFT studies of organocatalyzed and main group-catalyzed reactions, and has hands-on wet lab experience from her internship at the Shanghai Institute of Immunity and Infection (Chinese Academy of Sciences). Outside of research, she serves as President of the National Marrow Donor Program chapter on campus, where she organizes donor registration drives and fundraises for minority patients in need of matching donors.
Outside the lab, Lyisa is a PADI-certified diver who has logged dives across multiple countries, an alpine skier who found Minnesota surprisingly perfect for keeping up with the slopes, and a photographer who can't help framing everything as a shot. Her long-term goal is to contribute to research at the intersection of chemistry and cosmetics — because great science and a good moisturizer aren't mutually exclusive.
