Dr. Wetherbee is an Assistant Professor and is nationally recognized for her roles in education. Dr. Wetherbee is a gifted educator who works with trainees across the learning spectrum. She has been a Core Faculty member for our University of Minnesota Internal Medicine Residency Program since 2012 and is a director of the VALUE Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) since 2019. In this role, Erin is responsible for curriculum in evidence-based medicine and quality improvement for medical students. Erin also directs a local point of care ultrasound course and is faculty for the VA National POCUS Education Course. Erin been recognized for her excellence in education with two awards: “Outstanding Educator” by the Minneapolis VA Department of Medicine in 2015, and as “Teacher of the Year” by the graduating Internal Medicine, Med/Peds, and Med/Dermatology residents in 2019. Erin has also served as a mentor not only to our students, residents and fellows, but to junior faculty with an interest in medical education and clinical leadership. Dr. Wetherbee is also Site-PI for a VA cooperative trial comparing surgical resection to stereotactic radiation in early stage lung cancer.
