Identify and Classify Images on Zooniverse
The Zooniverse is the world’s largest and most popular platform for people-powered research. This research is made possible by volunteers — more than a million people around the world who come together to assist professional researchers. You don’t need any specialized background, training, or expertise to participate in any Zooniverse projects. Zooniverse makes it easy for anyone to contribute to real academic research, on their own computer, at their own convenience.
The OWW project will walk you through a brief tutorial and then you'll be ready to get started! A field guide is available to help you with common fauna of Minnesota. We'd also appreciate your help in adding interesting images to "collections" so we can share them more widely.
How to Get Started as a Deer Hunter Participant
*please make sure you complete all pages in the registration form!
This is an overview, please read detailed procedure if you plan to participate.
Register as a participant. We'll ask for: name, contact information, Minnesota deer permit area, county, type of hunting you plan to do and if you need to borrow a project camera
Hunt as your normally would
Clean your deer as you normally would
Set up your game camera immediately after cleaning your deer
Fill out a brief data sheet (on your smartphone or print a copy for use in the field). We'll ask for: date/time, location and settings of your camera
*we will not ask for the type of ammunition you hunt with and will not disclose hunting locationsLeave your camera set up for 1 entire month
Retrieve your camera after 1 month: fill out data sheet on date/time and any observations at gut pile
Upload your captured images and mail back your supplies, if needed

Supplies/Skills you'll need :
Remote Camera (project cameras available for use)
Batteries (varies for different cameras-Lithium is best option; provided with project cameras)
blank SD card (project cards provided with cameras)
Measuring Tape
Cell phone or digital camera
GPS (only if no smart phone available)
Datasheet-available as printout hard copy or on your mobile device
Basic-Intermediate technology skills (email, online data submission, Google Drive experience a plus)
