by Mary E. Robinson (Instructor - Montgomery College), Richelle Charles (Instructor - Montgomery College), Phil Bunnen (Student - Montgomery College), Arin Nicole Cruz (Student - Montgomery College), Emily Davis (Student - Montgomery College), Maria Monterroso Gordillo (Student - Montgomery College), Yolanda Lewis (Student - Montgomery College), Shah Zaib Wali (Student - Montgomery College), and Ekou Wilfred (Student - Montgomery College)
This collaboration amongst Montgomery College librarian, Richelle Charles, English Professor Mary E. Robinson; and English 103 students, brings together an annotated bibliography of open educational resources consisting of content focusing on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) in support of the English 103 Innovative Business Proposal. The resources were carefully selected applying appropriate search terms, to address the social justice framework for open education to recognize redistributive justice (equitable access to course material), recognitive justice (diverse images, culture, and gender differences), and representational justice (authority of authorship, co-construction of materials to tell ones’ own stories). Utilizing an annotated bibliography allows the student to continually digest information gained from resources well beyond the limitations set by the course term parameters. The participatory co-authorship of this annotated bibliography sets the stage for the student to become active producers of information. Thereby, becoming a part of scholarly conversation. (Note to the Reader: The annotated bibliography is arranged numerically by goal, including search terms, and alphabetically by author under each of the 17 UNSD goals).
