Welcome to the Minneapolis Quantum Association! MQA is a student-led group at the University of Minnesota dedicated to the discussion, promotion and research of quantum science.
Our primary goal is to educate students at the University of Minnesota on the field of quantum science. We host lectures from UMN and guest faculty to cultivate interest in the field and arrange peer-led reading groups to inform students about current research.
MQA connects students with our faculty and industry partners to facilitate students' involvement in academic and industrial research.
MQA provides a platform for students to share their own and others' research to the UMN and MQA community.
Quantum science is an emerging interdisciplinary field that employs the laws of quantum mechanics, which govern the smallest particles in the universe, to create new technologies with a ride range of applications. Quantum scientists leverage intrinsically quantum phenomena such as entanglement and superposition to tackle problems in computation, communication, cryptography, and metrology in fundamentally new ways.
MQA is committed to involving UMN students of all majors in the interdisciplinary field of quantum science. Our membership is primarily composed of students in the fields of physics, computer science, math, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Non-UMN students are also welcome. Fill out our interest form to get involved!
