Before You Arrive

(Preparations)

OVERVIEW

This page highlights three important areas for consideration and action prior to your arrival for the fall semester. Please review each and follow the appropriate hyperlinks to access the associated information and activities.

FOUNDATIONS FOR SUCCESS (click here to complete)

You are expected as an incoming Humphrey student to complete the Foundations for Success program prior to the start of the academic year. We are monitoring all site usage and encourage you to contact us with any questions you might have as you work to complete the program. https://sites.google.com/umn.edu/fdns-for-success-mdp-new/home

MDP INTAKE SURVEY (2021 link)

The MDP Intake survey supports the MDP program team in providing the best possible experience for incoming students. Not counting the time required to craft a short personal biography (this varies by individual) you can expect to spend about 5 minutes on this brief survey. It includes:

  • Student biography - so we can learn about you and share information with others.

  • Language aptitude - so we can begin developing field experience projects best suited geographically to the incoming cohort.

  • Tags - keyword selection in the areas of regional interest, thematic interest and skills that help us to connect incoming student with existing students, faculty, alumni and other value added partners such as international fellows and potential employers.

HOUSING

Start your housing search in the Twin Cities before you arrive! Do research on neighborhoods, price, roommate situation, and public transportation. More on housing in the "Upon Arrival in Minnesota" section.
