Advancing Molecules and Materials via Data Science
A workshop sponsored by the CSE Data Science Initiative, University of Minnesota
Please Note: Due to high demand, the venue for the workshop has been changed a second time and will take place in the Beacon Room on the 2nd floor of RecWell on the UMN Campus.
This one-day workshop will bring together experts in data science and in materials science to explore promising data science approaches and techniques that could support major advances in materials science in the coming years. Three themes will be explored:
Exploring Complex Data Sets in Materials Science (exploring heterogeneous/disparate data sets, handling gaps in the data, deciding where to explore next)
Novel data driven approaches to accelerate materials design and discovery (model design, uncertainty quantification)
Grand challenges for data-driven materials science
Each theme will feature multiple invited speakers and a panel discussion. Contributions in the form of posters are also welcome!
Registration is free and the workshop will take place in 402 Walter Library in the Beacon Room (2nd floor of RecWell Center on the UMN campus) on Friday, September 22, 2023. Lunch will be provided with registration. Remote participation will not be supported.
