Academic Advising supports students as they progress through their degree program. The Academic Advisor helps students plan their courses so they can complete their degree in an efficient manner. Academic Advising also supports students' personal well-being, mental health, and academic progress. The Academic Advisor can provide additional resources to students who would like personal or academic help.
All ECE students are required to meet with the ECE Academic Advisor once per semester in order to review academic progress, future plans and degree situation; this also leads to evaluation of registration plans for the following semester.
In the ECE Department, "departmental stamps" (know as a DS hold) are added to all student accounts on transfer into ECE as a way of managing the Academic Advising process. On meeting the ECE Academic Advisor semesterly, holds are pushed out to allow future class registration. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions page for more information on departmental holds.
