Purchasing Methods & Procedures
There are four valid methods for making purchases for ECE related activities. For most purchase requests you can use our online ordering system at z.umn.edu/ecepo. For the purchase of electronics parts and some other supplies you can utilize the ECE Depot. For those with a Purchasing Card or interest and need for one, visit our PCard page for policies and procedures. Finally, the university offers multiple internal service organizations. The most popular are listed below.
Policies and procedures on purchasing policy can be found on the Purchase Orders Page. When possible, utilize UMarket as a one-stop shop for your University of Minnesota purchasing needs. You can enter your UMarket items directly into ECE's online ordering system. If you don't have access to UMarket, email them at firstname.lastname@example.org to request access.
The ECE Depot sells electronics parts and other items for course, research, and extracurricular projects; offers consulting for troubleshooting and building electronic components; and builds and hands out lab kits for university courses.
The University provides a procurement card program for business-related purchases where the good or service is not available in U Market, or where the nature of the purchase does not require use of an official University purchase order. The PCard is a U.S. Bank Visa credit card issued to authorized University employees.
