David DeMark

About Me:

I am a visiting instructor of mathematics at Bates College in Lewiston, ME I am also a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Minnesota studying under Craig Westerland. Previously, I held a similar role at Earlham College. I expect to complete my Ph.D. in 2026. Before all that, I earned a B.A. in mathematics from Carleton College in Northfield, MN.

I like to think about probabilistic questions in algebraic number theory, often with a topological or combinatorial approach. I am also a participant in the growing homotopical combinatorics research community. In addition, I am a passionate educator committed to excellence in undergraduate education with experience in both teaching and curricular design. 

In my free time, I enjoy seeing new things in whichever city I am living in,  going to concerts, taking very long walks, and watching/discussing/screaming for my beloved Minnesota Lynx and Timberwolves.
