About Me:
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. Originally from Bangladesh, I bring a multidisciplinary perspective rooted in machine learning, healthcare technology, and cross-cultural collaboration. My research focuses on using physiological data and AI to build individualized models for chronic pain prediction, as part of an IRB-approved clinical study in partnership with a health-tech startup. I also serve in several student leadership roles within the ECE Graduate Student Group, COGS, and CAUSE, where I help organize academic, social, and professional development events for graduate students.
My Responsibilities:
As the incoming Co-Programming Director for CIGS, I will work closely with fellow board members to organize events that foster cultural exchange, social connection, and academic support among international graduate students. My role involves planning and coordinating programs, managing event logistics, and ensuring inclusive, engaging opportunities for students to connect and thrive. I also support collaborative programming with other student organizations and departments across campus.
Why I'm Passionate About the Council of International Graduate Students:
Having navigated the challenges of moving to a new country, starting a doctoral program, and adjusting to a new academic culture, I know how essential it is to find a supportive community. CIGS plays a critical role in creating that space for international students. I am excited to contribute by curating events that not only celebrate our diverse backgrounds but also create lasting connections and empower students to succeed.
