Subin Jang

Co-President

About Me: Hello, I am from South Korea and currently in my fourth year pursuing a PhD in Epidemiology at the School of Public Health. This year, I am honored to serve as co-President of CIGS alongside Natasha. My goal is to create a welcoming space for international graduate students at the University of Minnesota to connect, share resources, and form lasting friendships. Please feel free to reach out, we are here to support you during your academic journey. My Responsibilities: As co-President of CIGS, my responsibilities would include providing leadership to keep the team cohesive, fostering a sense of engagement, promoting inclusivity, and facilitating effective communication within the group. Why I'm Passionate About CIGS: I am passionate about CIGS because of my past/current experience as an international student. I benefited greatly from the international student community, and I would like to see other students have this experience as well. I also enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. I am excited to advocate, specifically, for international graduate students in addressing their concerns and needs. Key Achievements:
  • I have presented and published my research related to childhood obesity and cardiovascular disease risks.
Fun Facts:
  • I have a cat named Muffin, and my phone is full of her pictures. I love hiking, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
