About Me:
Hello everyone! I am a second-year Ph.D. student in Oral Biology at the University of Minnesota, pursuing a minor in Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology. I am originally from Brazil, where I earned my DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree and began my professional journey. My research focuses on oral cancer biology and genetics, with a strong interest in better understanding disease mechanisms and contributing to future treatment strategies.
Beyond the lab, I am passionate about mentorship and teaching. I even created an Instagram page to guide Brazilian students through the process of applying to graduate programs in the U.S. and Canada, helping them navigate opportunities and challenges abroad.
My Responsibilities:
As Co-Director of Communication, I will work to strengthen outreach, promote events and opportunities, and ensure that international graduate students feel informed, connected, and engaged within our community.
Why I’m Passionate About the Council of International Graduate Students:
As an international student myself, I understand the challenges of adapting to a new country, culture, and academic environment. I am passionate about helping others feel supported and included. I believe in creating spaces where everyone’s story matters and where our diverse voices can come together to foster collaboration, friendship, and growth.
