The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified burnout in healthcare and education fields. Data suggest this chronic exhaustion has increased to almost 70% of respondents in higher education and over 55% among frontline clinical staff. As educators and learners at the nexus of these populations, the consequences of these stressors affect how we provide patient care, how we educate learners, and how we use our creativity to generate knowledge and learn from each other.
As a response, Best Practices in Health Sciences Education (BPHSE) 2022 will center on helping participants rediscover their intrinsic and extrinsic motivations through unique, intentional hybrid sessions. By focusing on meaning-making in health sciences education and learning, the conference will bring inspiration, imagination, and improvisation to how we teach, how we learn, and how we (re)find joy.
