Lab II (BIOL 3004)

Department of Biology Teaching & Learning | College of Biological Sciences

Course Overview

Foundations of Biology Lab II (BIOL 3004) is the second of a two-part lab series for students in the College of Biological Sciences. In this semester-long course, students design, execute, analyze, and communicate a novel research project grounded in one of four research areas. Along the way students are mentored by research scientists with expertise in their focus area, course instructors, and through peer feedback.

This course is one of the final components for the Foundations of Biology course sequence, which is required for all CBS students. The goal in Foundations is not to teach biology; rather, it is to train biologists. As such, students gain a background not only in biological content but also develop the skills required to be a successful scientist within the discipline of biology.
