Explore the dairy industry, from raising a cow to dairy science and ethics to manufacturing and marketing dairy products. Topics include dairy cattle breeds, nutrition, feeding, identify parts of dairy cattle, desirable traits, stages of calving and care, and grooming and showing. Cows may be owned or leased.

Important project information for 4-H members in animal science

Join the dairy project development committee

Youth dairy project members may serve on the dairy project development committee (PDC). This group meets to evaluate the dairy project, hear committee reports and recommendations and plan programs. PDC subcommittees also help to run the program. Youth applicants must be 9th grade or older, complete and submit an application.
