Purpose
Wildfire smoke is affecting communities across the northwestern United States and is likely to affect many more in the future. This study aims to better understand how people think about and respond to wildfire smoke in their daily lives.
If you live in a household that received our postcard in the mail (below), we invite you to share your views on and experiences with wildfire smoke. Even if your community has not yet been affected by wildfire smoke, your perspectives are extremely valuable to our research.
By learning about people's experiences, perceptions, and responses, this research will help inform local organizations and agencies and implement policies to better support your community and communities in similar situations.

Method
We will collect and analyzed social data on the experiences, perceptions, and behaviors of households and other actors in communities that have experienced wildfire smoke. We will begin with exploratory interviews in communities with different types of smoke experiences (Task 2.1), then use the qualitative analysis of these interviews to inform a quantitative survey (Task 2.2). We have completed qualitative data collection, and are currently conducting our quantitative survey.
