Veera Baladandayuthapani is currently Jeremy M.G. Taylor Collegiate Professor of Biostatistics and Chair of Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health at University of Michigan. He also serves as the Associate Director of Quantitative Data Sciences & Director of Cancer Data Science Shared Resource at the UM's Rogel Cancer Center. He also holds a secondary (joint) appointment in the Gilbert S. Omenn Department of Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics at University of Michigan.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Statistics from Texas A&M University (in 2005), M. A. in Statistics from University of Rochester (in 2000) and BSc in Mathematics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 1999. A brief bio is available here.
His research program explores the potential of Bayesian probabilistic models and artificially intelligent/machine learning methods to assist in medical and health sciences. His orthogonal existence consists of his wife Upali Nanda (Professor of Practice of Architecture, University of Michigan and EVP, Global Sector Director of Innovation at HKS, Inc) and his two teenage boys Aarith and Aayush.
