Welcome! I'm Shivani. I am currently an Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan working with Professor Silas Alben. In our colloquial interactions with fluids, they behave in seemingly sporadic ways. But, we can actually model these types of behaviors mathematically and I find that fascinating! Currently, I am studying optimal channel shapes and  fluid flows for heat transfer in 2D non-uniform channels; this involves concepts from physics, mathematics, and optimization theory.
