Saptarshi Roy

About Me

I am an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at MBZUAI. Previously, I was a Postdoc Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin with a joint appointment in the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Statistics and Data Science, and the Institute for Foundations of Machine Learning. My research was also partly supported by EnCORE: Institute for Emerging CORE Methods of Data Science. I am being advised by Prof. Alessandro Rinaldo and Prof. Purnamrita Sarkar. Prior to joining UT Austin, I completed my PhD from the Department of Statistics at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, under the supervision of Professor Ambuj Tewari. I completed my Bachelor's and Master's from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.

Outside of research, I love playing the piano and chess. You can check out my games here and my personal favorites.
