The Pearson Lab was founded in 2011 in the Microbiology Department at New York University Medical Center. In 2016, the lab moved to the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Michigan. The lab's current research projects center on:
-Molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis during urinary tract infection by uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis
-E. coli virulence gene expression during clinical UTIs in postmenopausal women
-Regulatory gene networks in Proteus mirabilis

December 2025: Grant Spangler graduated from the M&I Master's program. Congratulations, Grant!
June 2025: Postdoc Dr. Surbhi Gupta presented her work at ASM Microbe 2025 in Los Angeles. She received travel awards from the Urinary Tract Infection Global Alliance and MCIDT. Congratulations!
May 2025: Zaiye (Simon) Yan and Anderson Lab member Alyssa Clemens graduated from the M&I Master's program. Simon is pursuing his PhD with Dr. Jenny Rohn at University College London. We wish him the best!
December 2024: Dr. Madison Fitzgerald (co-mentored by Drs. Pearson and Mobley) received her doctoral hood at Winter Commencement at Crisler Arena. Congratulations, Madison!

October 2024: "Development of a suite of Proteus mirabilis-derived urea-inducible promoters" is published in Applied and Environmental Microbiology.
